Dream:
Walking in a forest of large trees, a particularly friendly one began to speak. After some discourse, it extending the invitation to feel what it was like to be a tree. The offer was readily accepted and I stepping into the tree and became one with it.

Of Two Minds
24" x 24"
Frame by Ed McCravy
Being human is a complex journey filled with perpetual contradictions. Among the many perplexing aspects of our nature, one of the most confounding and challenging is our remarkable ability to simultaneously hold two opposing thoughts. Inner conflict, the eternal struggle within ourselves, is a theme that resonates with many. These internal battles shapes our perceptions and influence our actions. Clearing thoughts and relaxing body and mind allows for solution, growth, and self-discovery.

The Talking Trout
28" x 28"
Frame by Ed McCravy
Dream:
Crouching at the edge of a tranquil creek looking for pebbles, suddenly out of the water sprang an enormous trout that gracefully perched itself on a large rock. To my amazement, it began speaking telepathically weaving tales of wisdom and wonder. In a surreal moment, the trout beckoned me to stroke its majestic head. As I did, it conveyed the instruction to place the five pennies amongst the pebbles into its mouth. With reverence, I followed the guidance completing the ritual. The pebbles collected from that creek of my youth bare witness to this extraordinary encounter, reflecting the profound mysteries hidden within the simplest of places and the magical currents that flow beneath the surface of life.

Heart Activation
38" H x 23" W
Dream:
Standing inside gazing out a window, suddenly a double helix of radiant light appeared as it descended from the heavens. Eagerly I rushed outside to stand under it only to find the luminous light ascending back into the sky. Summoning every ounce of determination within, willing for its return, miraculously it reappeared, gracefully merging with the depths of my heart. Soon another person emerged from the building filled with the same yearning as mine. I humbly stepped aside, as they stepped into the light, receiving its radiant energy.

Burden of Belief
24" x 24"
Frame by Randy Mayfield
Within the tapestry of human existence, the constant assertion of belief often stems from deep-rooted fears. It becomes a defense mechanism against the discomfort of questioning and exploring alternative perspectives. Our liberation lies in transcending these fears and embracing the understanding that we are fundamentally connected. The limitations imposed by rigid beliefs then give way to a compassionate and inclusive world view, where the walls of division crumble and bridges of understanding and empathy are built. By celebrating our diversity and recognizing our shared humanity, we free ourselves from the burden of belief and foster a world that thrives on unity and acceptance.

Oy Vey!
15" H x 44" W
Frame by Ed McCravy
Dream:
In a vast expanse of open land, an ethereal vision unfolded before my eyes. From the heavens above, a giant majestic white bird descended and looked around. When it saw me standing a distance away, it started to walk in my direction transforming with each step into an Orthodox Jewish man. Radiating an aura of wisdom and serenity, the transformed figure approached me with a gentle demeanor as he cordially inquired, "Do you speak Yiddish?" With a surge of astonishment that left me momentarily speechless, I exclaimed,
"OY VEY!"

The Offering
24" x 24"
In the intricate tapestry of mother-daughter relationships, conflict often arises due to diverging perspectives. As I went through the process of maturation, there was a gradual realization that the longing for mother's acceptance and my persistent need to be right were at the root of the emotional distance between us. This newfound awareness allowed for a transformation in our relationship, as the harsh edges softened. Mother ceased to be a distant, abstract figure; instead she became visible as a real woman with hopes, dreams, and challenges of her own.
With gratitude for the precious gift of life, the child has ventured into the depths of the forest, ready to make her hesitant offering with only the moon as her witness.

Freedom from the Known
24" W x 40" H
From the moment we take our first breath, our thoughts and beliefs are shaped by family and community. Books and the opinions of others shape our minds, leading us to accept certain rules and beliefs without question.
As we mature, we reach a crucial juncture where we must move beyond solely relying on the knowledge handed down to us. It becomes essential to break free from the confines of borrowed wisdom and embark on a journey of self-discovery where we explore and discover our own truths.
This pursuit of self-discovery does not involve dismissing the wisdom of others; instead it integrates those insights with our own. By liberating ourselves from conditioned thinking we gain the freedom to be authentic, compassionate and open-minded individuals. This new mindset allows us to forge meaningful connections with others, respecting they unique viewpoints and building a more harmonious and inclusive society together.

The Chicken Tree
37" H x 64" W
Frame by Ed McCravy
In homage to the invaluable contribution of chickens worldwide, this art piece pays tribute to their significance as a source of sustenance, providing eggs, meat and feathers. With a population of 19 billion chickens globally, an astonishing 136 million chickens are consumed each day. Amidst the creation of this piece, an extraordinary encounter unfolded when a bantam pullet rooster unexpectedly appeared at our bird feeder. Considering the absence of chickens in our neighborhood, it seemed peculiar that a young chicken would find its way into our back yard. Curiosity led us to discover that the residents at the foot of the hill housed a sizable python that they fed live chickens. Our new found friend, Chuckie, had managed to escaped the python, instinctively fleeing towards Sanctuary. In our care, Chuckie reigned as a regal figure with a rich, varied diet and a comfortable safe place to roost at night. Free to roam during the day, he also evaded perilous encounters with a coyote and red-tailed hawk. Chuckie lived out a full life and will always be remembered as a symbol of survival. Each morning he called for us to WAKE UP!

Afternoon Tea with Ganesh
23" H x 32" W
Frame by Randy Mayfield
Dream:
Before any knowledge of Hindi religions, I had reoccurring dreams featuring a man with an elephant head. A little investigation led to the tale of Ganesh. One version reveals that the Goddess Parvati crafted Ganesh from clay and bestowed life into him, making him her son. One day Parvati assigned Ganesh to guard her door as she bathed barring all entry. When her husband, Lord Shiva returned from his mystical wanderings, Ganesh denied him access. In an impulsive act, Shiva severed Ganesh's head. Parvati was stricken with grief so Shiva vowed to revive Ganesh and replace his head from the first creature he encountered, which happened to be an elephant. Because of this, Ganesh was granted special powers. Revered as a bestower of wisdom, remover of obstacles, patron of arts, bringer of luck, and herald of new beginnings, through art we pay homage to Ganesh and invoke his blessings, preserving and retelling his tale.

Dream One:
Seated alone in a movie theater, images of human activity began appearing on the screen. At one point I put my hands over my face and screamed, "Don't show me anything ugly, don't show me anything ugly!"
Dream Two:
There is a black flip phone in my hand and as I turn it over, images begin to appear on its surface as it had in the movie theater. This time I did not hide my eyes and watched as the dark and ugly side of humanity appeared in quick succession. As I continued to observe, out of the darkness a tiny spec of light emerged in the center and began to grow into a vibrant swirling golden light, swallowing the darkness. Then the voice of dreaming said, "All things come from the same source."

Contemplation
26" x 26"
Frame by Ed McCravy
The young maiden's mind wanders, her gaze turned inward, as she faces a crucial choice that will shape her future. Should she venture forth on a path of self-exploration, untethered by the responsibilities of family, or should she succumb to societal pressures and seek comfort and security through marriage and motherhood? Caught in a poignant struggle between personal longings and cultural acceptance, she finds solace in contemplation, delving deep into her soul for clarity and wisdom. Each moment teeters on the delicate balance of desire and conformity as she weighs the call of adventure against the allure of tradition.
